You register your details with us on our contact page, and we call or email you back within 24 hours.  We send you a Form of Authority by post or email, giving us the authority to act on your behalf; we then contact your landlord by phone to discuss your claim, sending a follow-up letter requesting the full deposit.  The process should take about 28 days – and it could not be simpler.

Additional information may be required, such as:

  • - the tenancy agreement

  • - bank statements showing dates of rent and deposit payments

  • - address of the property that you were renting

  • - the landlord’s name and address

  • - and how much deposit you paid, with dates if possible.

We contact the landlord on your behalf and come to a resolution within weeks.

The law states that the money is the tenant's - it's up to the landlord to justify withholding all or part of the deposit.

By law landlords and agents in England and Wales who take a deposit from tenants under an ASSURED SHORTHOLD TENANCY AGREEMENT (AST) on or after 6 April 2007 must protect that deposit using a Government-approved tenancy deposit scheme.
